Custom 3D Printed Figure
2025
Designed, modeled, and printed based on a real person. This project includes concept development, AI-assisted visualization, 3D modeling in Rhino and Blender, and FDM printing.
How It All Started
With my boyfriend’s birthday coming up, I was searching for a meaningful and personal gift. Then I came across this image—and immediately thought, “What if I made a custom 3D printed figure like this, just for him?”
Reference & Concept
He’s the one I created the custom figure for. I included some of his signature features—his round glasses, the way he wears his hair, and the sweater he often wears. Since he loves photography and even built his own film camera, I wanted to show him in that moment—doing something he truly enjoys.
Design Visualization
To get a clearer idea of how the final figure might look, I used ChatGPT to generate an illustration that captured the style and vibe I was looking for. This helped me visualize the proportions, pose, and overall feel before moving into 3D modeling.
3D Modeling
Based on the illustration, I created the 3D model using Rhino and Blender. This step was all about translating the concept into a printable form—defining proportions, refining the silhouette, and making sure every part could be printed and assembled cleanly.
3D Printing
After finalizing the 3D model, I printed the figure using FDM printing. The next steps will be sanding the surface to smooth it out, followed by painting and finishing touches.

Painting and final assembly are up next—stay tuned!
